Creativity

Kelley and Chris enjoyed the arts when they were younger. For Chris, this is not surprising given how his dad, Clem, was into woodworking. Both of his parents also had musical talents. Chris’s mother, Jan, was the lead singer in Oklahoma! in high school and continued performing in various singing groups into adulthood. Clem performed with Jan as well. As for Kelley, it’s unclear where her talents came from. Kelley was also involved in musicals and enjoyed drawing, crafts, and dance. Henry too has had his share of impressive drawings!

Chris still has strong memories from his 5th birthday party at a family friend’s house. This was the event that he received his very first LEGO set. It was a good size set for a 5-year-old. After the celebration was over, Chris was given a space on the dining room table to work on his new present by himself. It was such a joy to put this set together without the help of siblings. Chris' family continued to express their amazement about how easy it seemed to Chris as well as the speed with which he completed the task.

“Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way.” ~ Edward de Bono.

The above statement says it all. Looking at things differently. Cauliflower is pizza, orange peppers are Jack o’ lanterns, and sandwiches are monsters! Not only is Kelley a foodie and keeper of family recipes, she also likes how creative you can get with food and how you can play with it and how you can play with food. She even plays with vegan and vegetarian cuisines. And. It’s. Good! It’s not bland, nor does it taste like “cardboard” at all! The possibilities of food are endless!

Though Kelley loved working on crafts before having Henry, special events like holidays seem to be one of the few outlets where Kelley has time to express herself and have fun with Henry to boot! From Valentine boxes and Valentines, to gingerbread houses, pumpkin decorating, and themed birthday parties, crafts are something that Kelley really enjoys doing for and with Henry.
